Fort Lauderdale - Getting To & From the City

Airports:

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport which is the neighboring city, Dania Beach in Florida is the main airport of Fort Lauderdale. It is also the fastest emergent major airport in the country. Situated just two miles to the south of downtown Fort Lauderdale, it is also a convenient airport to travel. The Spirit Airlines maintains its hub here with other airlines connections too like JetBlue, Delta Airlines and such airlines. Moreover, many of the Fort Lauderdale luxury hotels have connections with these airlines service of shuttle buses for the guests. Travelers can also opt for the Miami International Airport which is also a major international airport in South of Florida and is 25 miles to the south side of Fort Lauderdale.

Public Transportation:

The Tri-Rail and Amtrak are two of the popular mode of rail transportation amongst the locals and tourists in Fort Lauderdale. Tri-Rail is run by the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority and is a 72 mile system with 18 stations which is along the Florida coast. Other than that, Amtrak offers services to cities up to the Atlantic Coast of the United States. It has two stops in the Fort Lauderdale area. The airports and many of the hotels have links to these two transportation mode. Visitors to this city can get around the city through Tri-rail or Amtrak and travelling on these air conditioned commuter trains are also less expensive.

Travelers can travel around the city of Fort Lauderdale on car rentals or on taxis too. The Interstate 95 is the major highway which connects this city with Miami, West Palm Beach and even to Jacksonville and beyond. I-595/I-75 connects the city to the West Coast of Florida which includes Sarasota, the Tampa Bay and Naples too. Rental Cars can be used by tourists who also wish to travel luxuriously on their own around the city and these services can be provided by their respective Fort Lauderdale four star hotels.

The Greyhound Bus Lines offer bus services to the locals and tourists around the city and its neighboring towns. The Downtown Fort Lauderdale Transportation Management Association also offers such services to the commuters and connects the city to many other destinations. The local bus transportation is offered by the Broward County Transit or initialized as BCT. This is a county bus system which offers many bus routes to many of the destinations which can be covered more easily.

Fort Lauderdale can also be explored through the Port Everglades, which is the most active container port and the third busiest cruise port in Florida. It supports many cruise ships with almost ten thousand passengers arriving and departing from this port each week.
